Traditional Hotel along the Ahr – our History
The Hotel Hohenzollern, which our guests know and love as a traditional hotel along the Ahr, can already now look back on a history of more than a century. We utilise this vast wealth of experience in order to make your holiday in the Ahr Valley even more relaxing and more pleasant.
Lived Tradition – more than 100 Years of Experience in the Hotel Industry
In April 1905, today’s Restaurant and Hotel Hohenzollern was opened by the confectioner Hermann Schmitz as a café high above the Ahr Valley. The traditional hotel along the Ahr received its name in order to honour the imperial family. It wasn’t long before the Hohenzollern enjoyed the reputation of a hotel in which one arrived as a guest and left as a friend.
This personal style of hospitality and gastronomy was continued when the Restaurant and Hotel Hohenzollern transferred ownership to the Volkermann family in March 1974. Since then, the hotel’s history and tradition have been lovingly maintained in its hands and, in so doing, interwoven with the modern, innovative spirit of a young generation.
We are very happy that the family atmosphere and cordiality of our traditional hotel along the Ahr has also enjoyed such widespread appeal in uninterrupted fashion for more than 100 years now after its founding.
